Agrowisata merupakan bagian dari objek wisata yang memanfaatkan usaha
pertanian (agro) sebagai objek wisata. Agrowisata merupakan kegiatan kepariwisataan
yang pada akhir-akhir ini telah dimanfaatkan oleh kalangan usaha perjalanan untuk
meningkatkan kunjungan wisata pada beberapa daerah tujuan wisata agro. Tirtawinata, dkk
(1996) mengemukakan, agrowisata atau wisata pertanian ini semula kurang diperhitungkan,
namun sekarang banyak yang meliriknya. Berbagai negara di Eropa Barat, Amerika, dan
Australia sedang bersaing dalam memasarkan agrowisatanya. Oleh karena itu Indonesia
tidak mau ketinggalan, terlebih Indonesia sebagai negara agraris yang sangat potensial
untuk pengembangan agrowisata.
