III.6.2.5 Lokasi Bencana Geologi
Dari segi kebencanaan, daerah lokasi PLTM Pagerpelah ini termasuk daerah yang rawan terjadinya gempabumi dan tanah longsor karena kondisi geologi local (jenis batuan) dan posisi tektoniknya relative dekat dengan zona-zona sumber.
Kondisi geologi setempat (jenis batuan) yang berupa perselingan antara serpih dan napal sangat peka terhadap udara (kering dan basah), sehingga kondisi batuan yang keras dalam waktu singkat (tidak lebih dari 1 bulan), kalau terbuka cepat mengalami kerusakan (slacking).

Ditinjau dari segi kebencanaan lokasi rencana PLTM Pagerpelah merupakan daerah yang rawan terhadap tanah longsor, terutama pada lokasi yang kondisi batuannya merupakan perselingan antara serpih dan napal yang mempunyai sifat slacking yang tinggi.
Untuk mengurangi terjadinya longsoran, pada lokasi yang batuannya merupakan perselingan serpih dan napal supaya dibuatkan drainase yang baik dan permukaan galian (lereng) harus diproteksi (dengan gebalan rumput, bronjong maupun beton semprot).
