Pemerintah melalui Menteri Koordinator Bidang Politik Hukum dan Keamanan Djoko Suyanto menanggapi pernyataan calon presiden Prabowo Subianto yang menarik diri dari proses Pemilu Presiden 2014. Djoko meminta agar proses yang berkaitan dengan pilpres diserahkan sepenuhnya kepada Komisi Pemilihan Umum (KPU).

"Pemerintah berpandangan kita serahkan sepenuhnya kepada KPU sesuai dengan kewenangannya yang diatur dalam undang-undang," kata Djoko dalam jumpa pers di kantor Menkopolhukam, Jakarta, Selasa (22/7/2014).

Hadir pula dalam jumpa pers tersebut Kepala Kepolisian RI Jenderal Sutarman, Panglima TNI Jenderal Moeldoko, Menteri Dalam Negeri Gamawan Fauzi, dan Kepala Badan Intelijen Nasional Marciano Norman.

Djoko mengatakan, sesuai dengan amanat Undang-Undang Dasar 1945 dan Undang-Undang Tentang Pemilihan Presiden, segara hal yang berkaitan dengan penyelenggaran pemilu merupakan kewenangan KPU.
